On September 27th we will join the major demonstration ‚All eyes on Gaza‚ in central Berlin against the Genocide in Palestine. We will mourn the tens of thousands dead and even more wounded in Gaza and the West Bank and fight for the people who thus far survived the atrocity that is taking place. We are disgusted about the German complicity in yet another genocide and will take our rage to the streets. While writing, Gaza is being leveled one building at a time in a systematic by the Israeli state attempt to make the strip uninhabitable. Total extermination is currently ongoing in Gaza city and Israel has already set its eyes on the West Bank in an attempt to violently undermine any chance for Palestinian self-determination. The situation is absolutely unacceptable and state institutions globally have failed to call the events to a halt through meaningfull action.
We call you to join us on the streets to fight for the liberation of the Palestinian people and everyone between the river and the sea, as well as to resist the German „reason of state“ and its complicity.

Gaza and the West-Bank
As mentioned above, the situation in the West Bank is strongly connected to that of Gaza and the ongoing genocide. The silence on the part of Israel´s allies, have emboldened both the government and zionist settler colonists to also intensify their efforts on the West Bank. The events in both regions should be understood as one and the same project, just managed under a different time-line.
The Israeli state and settler colonists, are, altough seperate forces, strongly inter-connected. The colonists movement is, although a non-state force, still very much in line with Israeli state-interests. These forces are able to act in ways the state itself long time could not under international law. This resulted in pseudo-controlling policies where on the one hand the Israeli state was pretending to limit its influence, on the other hand however facilitating the movement by giving them military protection, expansion quota’s for their settlements on Palestinian land and impunity for their violence against Palestinian people. Now that these groups have secured more influence in the government, the leash the Israeli state had on this movement has loosend even more, and the state is more actively using them as shock troops: embolding them by distributing small arms and protective gear, prosecuting victims instead of purportraiters, proclaiming far reaching expansion of illegal settlements and politicians praising the efforts of the colonist movement.
In a symbolic attempt to pressure Israel of restraining itself in Gaza and the Westbank, recently a host of states have started to acknolegde ‚the Palestinian state‘. This move has thusfar only made Israel step up its effort to indefinitively prevent Palestinain statecraft. Most states who have recently acknoledged the Palestinian state, thusfar however have done little to prevent the horrors committed in Gaza and the West-Bank. They still maintain strong economic and military ties and even ship supplies that help facilitate the ongoing genocide.
Consequences
It is wrong to think that what is happening in Gaza is just something far away, not connected to our daily lives. In a world that is rapidly militarizing, that what is happening in Gaza should be a wake-up call to everyone. The impunity with which the Isreali army has been able to act, should be a warning to everyone who is concerned about their own safety. Especially states like the United States, Germany, Great Brittain and a few others, have shown that human rights and human lives are just things that matter on paper and in statements. At the moment that their imperialist hegemony can be solidified or profits through arms sales can be made, human rights are easilly thrown over board – repressing people fighting for human dignity.
The genocide in Gaza is already ongoing for almost two years now. Already after 3 weeks the alarm bells have been ringing by many humanitarian organisations and international researchers. Yet still governments in the West are throwing sand in our eyes with low-hearted appeals to Israel to show ‚restraint‘. All the while Israel has shown little interest in restrain, only doubling its efforts to fatique those resisting their genocidal efforts: refined smear campaigns against activist, mass psychological warfare on the internet with troll armies, social media campaigns, political oppression internally, fysical attacks on efforts to break the siege and blockade of Gaza like on the different floatilla’s, the employment of public confusion by the installment of an institution like the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in which humanitarian aid is weaponized against the people in need of it and ofcourse the blatant attacks on the negotiation delegation of Hamas, the endless agression to all of its neighbouring states to send a message to not intervene, etc.
The daily suffering of the people in Gaza will have consequences here in multiple ways. First of all, we have lost our dignity and our humanity by the complicty of our governments. They thow up a wall so high, we can’t scale it anymore to overcome our differences and make it impossible to find reconciliation for the horrors committed. It is also very likely to further the indiscrimitate hate against Western countries, fostered by people in West-Asia.1 This will likely intensify terrorist attacks in the states we live in, contributing to a feeling of unsafety further spurring anti-immigrant sentiments and boldening (white) nationalist support.
The news of the daily suffering in Gaza, the unprecidented killing of children, the bombing of hospitals etc. also damages our moral compass. It numbs us and makes us feel powerless, especially when our states are in paralel employing a racist logic as here in Germany. While the goverment is supporting the efforts of Israel in Gaza, it talks back home of ‚imported anti-semitism‘ and tries criminalize people expressing concerns about what is happening in Gaza as extremists, criminalizing healthy human compassion. This culture of repression and fear has stiffled public debate and undermined public action against both the actions by Israel and the complicity of the German state.
Gaza is not just contested territory which zionist colonists want to occupy. Israel is a major producer and exporter of military equipment, technology and tactics. Much of this is being tested for use on the Palestinain populace and will likely be sold to our goverments. Gaza and the West-Bank have already been military testing grounds for years and this has only escalated with the recent conflict. This already has been the case for surveilance software Pegasus and will likely be the case for applications like Lavender, Where’s Daddy2 and others – the artificial intelligence used in Gaza to ‚identify‘ possible targets for attack. The military ties between our states and Israel will thus also further the militarization and police observation where we live.
- Currently there is still often talked about the ‚Middle East‘. West-Asia is a more correct geographic formulation. [↩]
